Thomas Blankets

As I mentioned previously, we've been having some sleep issues with Owen lately.  The most common request he has in the middle of the night is that he wants us to straighten his blankets.  The boys still have fairly small blankets, but they haven't been willing to give them up for any of the larger options we've given them.

Out of desperation, we bought some Thomas the Tank Engine fleece blankets at Target today in hopes that they would be accepted as the new night-time blankets.  We wrapped the blankets up as presents to add to the excitement factor, hoping the boys would go for it.  Oh my goodness.  If I'd known how they'd react, I'd have brought up the video camera.  Their reaction was pure elation.  The faces that were made were a crack-up - they were just so happy!  I don't think I've ever seen them so excited.  I wanted to go get the video camera, but I didn't because I didn't want to miss a single moment.  I'll just have to try to write the memory down, but there's no way I could ever do it justice!

They kept exclaiming how cool the blankets are:
"That's cool!"
"So, so cool!"
"Very cool!"
"Way, way cool!"
"I love it!"
"It's the coolest in ever and ever and ever!"

...and on and on.  Owen proceeded to list all the things he could do with the blanket:

Stand on it
Lay on it
Sit on it
Jump on it
Lay under it
Walk on it
Run on it
Spin on it

The best part was how sincerely grateful they were.  It was adorable.  They thanked us over and over, and while Jack was busy being excited, Owen came and gave Mark and me kisses and hugs, and said thank you to our faces.  So sweet - Mark and I both teared up a bit.  This went on and on for a half hour until it was bedtime.  My heart is bursting with love for those little guys right now - even more than normal!  Tonight was an absolutely unexpected, priceless, precious night.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend - mine can't get any better!!
