Bert & Bert

Up until about a week before Halloween, the boys were undecided on what they wanted to be. Some of their ideas were Chicken Little, pumpkins, penguins, Mickey, etc. One day Owen informed us he wanted to be Mary Poppins. Hmmm, "Do you mean Bert, the chimney sweep?" I asked. "Yes," he confirmed.  Bert was then thrown into the mix of options. Day to day their choices changed, and when it came time to actually go shopping, we had trouble finding a cute costume that they liked.

Finally, Owen decided he wanted to be Bert for Halloween. All that day he walked around saying "I'm going to be Bert with soot on my face." Who knew soot was so exciting?  Jack, however, had once again set his eye on Superman. Again? That would be 3 out of 4 Halloweens that he'd be superman. We tried to encourage him in another direction, but he insisted on Superman. We acquiesced.  If that's what he really wanted to be, then Superman it was.

A couple of days later, when we found all the pieces for the Bert costume, Owen was wearing it around, and dancing to "Step in Time."  Once Jack saw the ensemble, he couldn't resist, and decided he wanted to Bert as well. Yay!!  The boys ended being as cute as can be, though unidentifiable to many.  Here are our little Chimney Sweeps, soot and all!
