Bedtime Conversations

The boys usually have some interesting conversations before going to sleep each night, so I thought I'd share one with you from the other night.  To give some context, we recently had to put up a baby-gate at their door because Owen has had trouble staying in his room at night...this is the reason for the baby-gate talk!  After Owen returned from the baby-gate, and got back in bed, the following is what I heard through the monitor (as close to word-for-word as I could get!):

Jack:  "It’s not OK to play with the door or the baby gate, Owen, or the door or the baby gate will break.  Because it’s very heavy to carry  Because the baby gate will knock the door over.  The baby gate is made out of glass.

Owen:  "Baby gates aren’t glass, Jack, baby gates are made out of metal."

Jack:  "Part is glass."

Some unintelligible ramblings...

Owen:  "Why can’t you sleep, Jack?"

Jack:  "Because I don’t like to sleep, but I like to eat. I don’t like to sleep, I like to eat and play.  Why don’t you….do you like to sleep?"

Owen:  "I do".

Jack:  "Why do you like to sleep?"

Owen:  "Because it’s cozy."

Jack:  "I like to sleep because it’s cozy too.  It feels good when you have a blanket on for your sleep."

More rambling...

Jack:  "A problem is not really a surprise. When you’re surprised you just say 'Oh no, I’m surprised,' and you just call Mommy and Daddy, and they will hit a scary dream."

Owen:  "Scary dreams don’t really scare you.  Scary dreams don’t make you cry.  You just say, 'Mommy and Daddy, I had a scary dream.' Then they come up and say, 'It’s OK.'”

And for fun, a couple of cute, older pictures:
